It’s so exciting to see brands reach out and work with creators across the spectrum to expand their reach into demographics that may be off their marketing radar. UGC creators and Influencers are growing fast in the world of Brand Collaboration and are expected to be a trillion-dollar industry. So where does that leave you? With so many niches and brands to work with, anyone can begin their journey whether you would want to be an influencer or a UGC content creator.
Influencer and UGC content creator are two completely different things and are NOT synonymous terms. However, influencers can also create UGC content for brands and vice versa. And yes you can be successful with a faceless account.

Influencer
So basically an influencer already has a presence online with a faithful social following. Brands work with influencers in hopes of expanding their demographics with the influencer’s social following. The influencer oftentimes receives a commission. If an influencer works with several brands and has a large following, this can be very lucrative.
Brands may also send gifted merchandise for an influencer to promote on their social platforms. This is a great way to open the door if you are just beginning your influencer journey. Not only will you receive FREE products and/or services, but you also gain firsthand experience and sharpen your social media skills.
UGC Content Creator
Here you would create content for brands for them to use for their marketing. Typically, UGC creators don’t need a large social media following so don’t worry if you’re not quite there with numbers just yet. But you will need to build a portfolio with the following:
- Media Kit
- Pitch Email
- Examples of work
You will also need equipment that best accentuates your content. You can use your cellphone when just starting out but at some point, you will want to upgrade to a good camera.
- Tripod
- Microphone
- LED lighting
As you grow with experience so will your portfolio. Be sure to keep it updated and reinvent yourself as you gain experience. It’s easy to get in your head and talk yourself out of it. But with consistency you WILL grow. I’m working on a FREE guide for those of you who want more information on Brand Collaboration.
